Kitchen Cabinet Painting

The family kitchen is the true heart of the home. We cook, eat, and entertain there. Over time, all that life and love wears on your cabinets.

Instead of a complete kitchen renovation, many homeowners choose cabinet painting: a far more affordable option that still makes a dramatic impact.

Thinking About Doing It Yourself?

If you're handy and have the right tools, painting your own cabinets may be an option. For most of us, this job is better left to professionals. Our contractors have years of experience with this exact project, and the results speak for themselves.

How Much Does It Cost to Have Kitchen Cabinets Painted?

It's the top question we get, and the honest answer is that we have to see your kitchen. Every kitchen is different. Some need more prep work, more panels, or more intricate trim. We come to your home and build a free, all-inclusive quote that details exactly what the price covers. No surprises, no hidden fees.

Behind the Scenes

Our Cabinet Painting Process

Step 1: Meeting

Before we begin, we walk the project with you. We verify every detail and answer your questions.

Step 2: Prep

As with all painting, the quality of the finish comes down to the prep work. Our painters protect your kitchen from any splatter or overspray, and anything not getting painted gets covered. We also set up a temporary spray booth — typically in your garage.

The process and products depend on your kitchen — each one is unique, and we customize the approach in your quote so you don't pay for anything you don't need. A typical kitchen looks like this:

  1. Remove Doors & Hardware

We remove cabinet doors, drawers, and all hardware. Then we take them to the temporary spray booth that we set up in your garage.

  2. Light Sanding

We lightly sand as needed for paint adhesion.

  3. Caulking

Lines and seams are caulked where needed, using a high-grade flexible caulk made for cabinets.

  4. Spray Primer

Often we use a spray primer — typically oil-based. Oil-based primer seals the surface of the wood blocking tannin oils from bleeding through, creating the best bond, and helping the paint cover better.

Step 3: Painting

  1. Smooth Spray Finish

We spray cabinet paint for a smooth, even finish. Whether you choose a light or dark color, we select the right product for a durable finish that lasts.

  2. Quality Inspections

Throughout the process, our painters and Quality Managers run numerous quality inspections to make sure everything looks great.

  3. Reassemble & Clean Up

We put things back together, replacing door and drawer bumpers, and clean up your beautifully refreshed and updated kitchen.

How Long Does It Take?

Our process typically takes 3–4 days, depending on the size of your kitchen and the work involved. Our team is always mindful that we're guests in your home — we'll stay out of your way and keep as much of your kitchen usable as possible throughout the project.
